In a previously written article, we talked about the significance of giving a professional look for your ebook’s inside pages as well. In this next article, we present a few more ebook design tips.

Add a good amount of white space

If the inside pages of your ebook look dense, your ebook readers may find it hard to read. You can utilize a sensible amount of white space by way of the following:

• Remove long lines of text and preserve a reasonable amount of left and right margins

• Employ spacing so that the lines in the same paragraph as well as the paragraphs themselves are not too close to one another

• Include headings and sub-headings

• Enhance variety in your material: Lines of text are fine; but other means of showing the text such as tables and charts or sidebars can be very helpful as well both with respect to conveying your message and in providing a rest for the readers’ eyes

On the flipside, you should not add far too much white space. Make sure that there are no awkward interruptions in between lines and sentences and that there are no paragraphs separated from the other content.

Be smart about the font you work with

Remember that you should be designing your ebook to keep readers from straining their eye sight while reading. You should utilize more serif (Times New Roman) and sans serif (Verdana) fonts in the headings and body texts instead of ornamental or decorative fonts. The smoother your readers can go from left to right and up to down, the more positive experience they have reading through your ebook.

Include the "extras"

After you have created your ebook design and integrated various other design components for a professional-looking ebook, it is beneficial to include the following areas to your ebook as well. To some people, these sections might be perceived as "extra", but to us they are needed elements in your ebook since these will allow you to connect with your target audience and further raise your image of professionalism and no-nonsense attention to detail.

• Disclaimer and Copyright page

• Introduction to the Book or Preface

• About the Author page

• Thank you page

Understand that a professionally developed ebook - both inside and out - will offer your readers the awareness that they are acquiring a product of greater value than the amount they are paying for. For that reason, you won’t only be able to grow your credibility as a writer, but perhaps attain more revenues as well!
